Rumours

"Eh, do you know that woman? She's kinda a bitch, she likes to giving people false hope"

"You know that guy? He never brought his girlfriend to a fancy restaurant, they're always eating at street-food-vendor"

Have you ever heard one of these before? Maybe you have, or perhaps..... you're the one who said that.

You know that woman you heard that she's a bitch who likes to giving boys false hope? Perhaps she's the one who always get hurt in her past relationship, so she tend to be more careful with the guys that approaching her right now.

You know that guy that always bring his girlfriend to a street-food-vendor? Maybe he's the one who support his family financially, maybe he's the one who works hard but still try his best to keep his woman happy.

Some people are judgemental nowadays. They tend to jump to 'conclusion' without even understanding both sides of the story. They judge people before they get the facts right. They often made up an rumor, spread rumors, and believe in rumours.

I currently majoring in psychology, and I have studied a lot about people's behavior. This behavior is called jumping to conclusions bias. According to wikipedia it is a psychological term referring to a communication obstacle where one "judge(s) or decide(s) something without having all the facts; to reach unwarranted conclusions".

This kind of behavior surely doesn't apply to humans as whole. Some people are mature and wise enough to judge something based on the facts. Some people are immature and dumb enough to believe in rumors or gossips without knowing the facts.

So if you consided yourself as a mature and wise human, please don't judge people just based on your perception, because you have no idea what happen to their life, what are their struggling and what kind of battle do they fight to survive everyday.
